"Michael with his wife Flavia and their three children. L-R (Mackenzie, Michelle and Marcus"

Michael Kirungi is dedicated to empowering individuals, both children and adults, to enhance their lives and contribute positively to others, all for the glory of God. He serves as the Founding Pastor of Mifik Community Church and is the Founder and Director of Mifik Global Mission, a non-profit organization providing educational and developmental services to underprivileged children in Uganda. Additionally, Michael is the Founder and Director of Mifik Missions and Safaris, a missions travel company.

Having earned his bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management from Makerere University, Michael previously worked as a mission’s coordinator at Africa Renewal Ministries before establishing his own organization. Currently, he is pursuing an MA in Christian Ministry and Leadership from Biola University in California.

Growing up in the rural village of Gaba outside Kampala, Uganda, Michael faced the challenges of limited resources in a large family of 15 children, where concerns about food and schooling were constant. At the age of ten, Michael became a beneficiary of Compassion International’s Child Sponsorship Program through his local church. This sponsorship provided the means for him to complete his primary and secondary education without worrying about school fees. Thanks to sponsorship, he obtained a university degree, enhancing his leadership skills and achieving higher education.

Michael is a passionate advocate for the poor and vulnerable, motivating and inspiring others to make a difference in their lives. He shares his personal story of transformation, emphasizing themes of hope, perseverance, and faith while connecting people to the impactful work of Compassion.

Residing in Kampala, Uganda, Michael is married to Flavia, whom he met through the Compassion Program. Together, they have three children: Michelle, Marcus, and Mackenzie.

Generosity is a reflection of a compassionate heart, for as Proverbs 11:25 states, ‘A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.’ In giving, we embody the spirit of Luke 6:38: ‘Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over, will be poured into your lap.'”
